Classes are held every Friday evening at 7:00 PM.
Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. There are many schools of Ikebana but our Ikenobo school is the first and oldest school in Japan dating back 500 years. Its original purpose was to decorate the alters of the Buddhist temples. The present head master for Ikenobo School is the 45th generation.
There are four main styles of floral arrangements in the Ikenobo School. The four styles are Rikka, Shoka, Moribana and Freestyle. The final arrangement depicts harmony of color, form and texture. Though there is a formal structure of arranging, there is still a sense of creativity.
The class is taught by Mrs. Mineko Matsumoto. Mrs. Matsumoto received the outstanding volunteer award on May 15 at the awards banquet.
